Really asking the fellas who've pushed the cars a bit .. all I ever am told is being auto and 4 speed only, it will be a let down to the engine (when I drove it, I myself did have the impression that it was slow.. but tbh I think it felt that way due to the whole idea of the car not making you feel that it was doing the speed it was)

so whats the concensus here? I haven't seen many Aristo videos on youtube ,the couple of drag ones well they look ok, its hard to judge in some of them due to the angle and then trying to tell if the Aristo catches up or what,

and another question, on the highway if you have a roll on run (if **) , how does the car react as in, will it drop a gear or two, hold it (as you rev up) or does it remain in the gear it is and then rev it out? (I recall in the Vr-4 Galant, as it showed exactly what gear it was in, you could see them drop hold, redline change) ..

** anticipation builds up as I'm about to get the call from importyard that its ready for pick up lol (within next week)!! Eeek Dance

Stock, I think they're about a 14.5sec 1/4 mile car, remember it's an executive saloon, not a drag car.

The gearbox and engine are found in the MKIV Supra, and that box and lump seem to work OK. So whoever is saying otherwise, is talking from their backside to be frank.

Rolling runs is where it's forte lies. The gearbox will select the most appropriate gear for the given load/rpm/throttle position. To get the most out of it, remember to press the pedal all the way down to activate the button, which tells the ECU to go like f**k.

I have some 40mph-90mph pulls somewhere on video, I'll dig them out for you.

the button (kick down switch) is only found on some models...
Also, the power switch is a necessity if you want to drag.

I believe it was removed in the later models?

I don't believe I have it for instance...
If i get it into 2nd (or 3rd?) and give it a bit of throttle... then say i push through to about 4-5k.. then if i floor it, it doesn't kick down at all, it'll stick in the gear and just WOT through to redline.

And your auto changes at 6000, but your rev limit is 6500. So hold the gears for an extra 500 rpm Smile
