hey guys, just recently car has been idling weird.
it only happens sometimes, but it seems that when i give it some stick, it will randomly just cut off, ie... rpm will hit say 2000-3000rpm and it will just lose power and drop in rpm to say 1200rpm. and then the car goes spluttery and is a bit hesitant to go. on normal driving its fine?
could it be spark plugs or coil packs? cause i got iridium toughs in there and they should be good for atleast 100000kms. they got put in @ 70000km. car has done 120,000kms.
havent had time to diagnose the problem. probably wont have time for the next couple of weeks as exams are coming up. so driving my other car for the time being. will update when i get the time to work on the car.
im thinking its most likely coil packs.
spark plugs arent due for change for another 50000kms.
theres a vibration, so im assuming that its only firing 5 Cylinders right now _________________
okay finally got some time to play with the aristo.
before this, the engine felt like it was misfiring, and it was hesitant and shuddering. When i turn a corner, power would be cut for a couple seconds.
Ive narrowed it down to coilpacks/plugs/connectors/fuel filter?
first thing i changed when this started happening was plugs. I put in BKR7E gapped to 0.8mm.
the problem was still there, so then i changed all my coilpack connectors as they disintegrated as i unplugged them. Then I changed the coil packs(not new, but all from running engines)
i took out the plugs to see what they looked like, at the tips they were "whiter" than the usual brown.
i concluded it to be running lean? so then i looked to replacing the fuel filter. IF it was changed during compliance, it would be over 3 years old. IF it didnt, then i would assume it was the same one since new. I replaced it with a Z383 filter from autopro, fit like a glove! Cost 22 bucks.
So now i started the car up, and it started up fine, idled fine. Let her warm up for a good 5-10mins and then took her for a drive. On part throttle, the car accelerates fine. On more throttle it felt like it was missfiring again.
My question is, the plugs are like 15km old. Will they be fouled already if the blocked fuel filter was making the engine run lean? damaging the plug?
Currently in the process of re conning my original coil packs. they have no cracks whats so ever.
The oxygen sensor is used by the ecu on cruise, and low throttle. The ecu uses the fueling maps on the ecu and does not use the o2 sensor for high throttle. I think thats it. _________________
just swapped coil packs one by one with the set i got from mxracer.
there was one moment where, the car was running fine for 5 mins, spiritedly... but on the way back home, it started to shudder/hesitate again! grrrr still has the same problem. Noticed when turning into my street, there was a loss in power out of turn on light throttle for a good few seconds again.
Try change your ECU.. Sounds similar to my issue that I had (Except mine was almost un-drivable)..
okay, so i did the 12v fuel pump relay mod, shes still Missing! Will pop down to get some new BKR7E gapped to 0.8mm. if that still doesnt work, ill swap ECU!
i really hope my blitz isnt fecked! love this awesome ecu. _________________
