A big thanks to Soti for coming around to lend me a hand! Top bloke! I owe you one
We swapped over to different coil packs, Ecu's, spark plugs, ignitors. Checked for error codes
After a few hours, we got the car started, but it wouldn't hold idle for a few seconds! And when you feather the throttle, it would just stall.
somehow we got it idling running on 4-5 cylinders so we left idling when i went off and bought some injector cleaner. after 5 minutes of putting in the injector cleaner, it idled heaps better, to the point where we could increase rpm/throttle smoothly. There was still a missfire every 5 seconds.
Probably left it idling for a good 20-30 mins before it stalled and would not start back up again.
So we narrowed it down to fuel injectors being blocked due to the installation of the new walbro gss342. _________________
not as yet! just dont have time for it right now, getting hammered by uni! Might just drop it to my dads mechanic to get the injectors cleaned and see if they can find out what the problem is. _________________
Had a quick chat with dads mechanic, and he's told me it might not be injectors. He said even if one injector is blocked the car should still crank over but miss, so he said I could be wasting money having the injectors pulled out and cleaned. ECU pulled no error codes? Crank Angle Sensor? IACV? these would sure shoot out an error code right? any other ideas fellas? _________________
If the IACV (or most other sensors) is throwing a bad signal the chances are that you will not get an error code on the ECU. It would really only be on a complete failure that you would get a code.. I would suggest taking it apart and cleaning it..
dont forget, when we put the injector cleaner in, it got better, then got worse.....so if the injectors are infact clean......but have a shitty spray pattern, itll still run like a pig! and you did say you got some 'gunky shit' out of the filter!
a guy on toymods is wrecking a 2jzgte atm so could get parts off that? _________________
hey just and update on this, dropped my car off at my dads mate workshop.
They checked and over checked, and finally got the fuel pump. They pull'd it up and quickly noticed excessive corrosion , with water in my fuel tank! Been instructed by my mechanice, that he will taking the fuel tank out, and cleaning all the lines purging with fuel in and return lines. If i cant find another fuel pump, they said they will most likely use a commodore pump
apparently the brand new walbro gss341 i stinalled recently has been taken over with corrosion that say it probably isnt worth using.?
OR I'm going try source a bosch 044 and get them to fit it?
PS Any know where to get a bosch 044 cheap and fast locally?
cjeers
EDIT! mind the language and grammar,I had planed to take my stilnox, and then sleep since i had a 4am shift this morning, then the mechanic called to discuss some stuff and to show me what he has diagnosed, So i drove a 5 min drive and took them my standard full pump. What a challenge! _________________
water in the tank?? ummm, thats a bit concerning!! any ideas?? bad fuel? the fuel pump could be heard buzzn it lil tits off when i was there! wonder wats happend? _________________

I'm assuming bad fuel somewhere which has, exacerbated the problem as time passed. I wouldn't have a clue where to start to figure out which servo I got the bad batch of fuel from.
The walbro was bought in late august and installed late September sometime? my mechanic pulled it out and it was way corroded! I was amazed... he was like I wouldn't bother using it. So I'm out to find a bosch 044 now, or he said he'll put in a commodore pump in lol!
I'm assuming the pump continued to suck water and eventually blocked the injectors...?
if that's the case, I'll be looking for some 650cc drop ins to prepare for single down the track. Might as well put in upgrades now to avoid future re-installations.
He will be closing his workshop down in a week over the holidays and open up in January sometime. Perfect so I can go hunt down these parts. _________________
so i drove the car for a good 300kms before idle went a bit weird again! It only happens intermittently and feels like the car is missing a bit on acceleration.
I'll be changing my CTS and cleaning my IACV soon. Will a faulty CTS or IACV cause intermittent hesitance on acceleration? _________________
