Basically have to remove all trim off the doors, wind down the window, remove the mirror, then remove the window seal then there is a number of screws top and bottom.
There is also a number of clips on the outer edge of the door that you are likely to break and then you will have to jbweld (or similar) the trim to the door itself to make it look reasonable.
You will also be forever polishing the trim as it will go dull and start to show signs of corrosion..
your best off chroming them hey trhats what im doing to my ones............i had my vn ones all polished up but after few months you can see all the little rust spots pop up _________________

My door trims are all off at the moment, its a piece of cake.
There is a thread on removing all interior trims on here somewhere, do that.
Front door are easy - WD40 the lower phillips screws on the bottom, as they get a little stiff! Soak them and leave for 20 minutes if you have too, tighten them before you loosen them also seems to help.
Mirrors are 3 10mm bolts and a harness, big whoop. And a handful of 8mm bolts along the top inside of the door.
Remove the window seals, there is a bunch of phillips screws in there. Then break the clips on the B pillar as you remove it. If it sticks, you forgot a screw/bolt somewhere - don't yank.
Rears are a little harder,
you have to unbolt the glass, remove the seals, then pull the glass out - in that order. The rear quarter glass is held in by a verticle piece of trim too, that has a 10mm bolt and a clip for the door locks on it, slides out too.
Then the glass just pulls out. more screws behind that.

I'm attempting to polish it, then clearcoat to maintain the polish but I'm not sure how it will go. To be honest it's been sitting there for a while now and it's yet to show signs of aging but I'm not sure how much wear and tear it will take before it will start corroding through again.
The other option is the chrome dipping as said.. this depends on the company as to the value.. but they require it to be stripped of all non metal components which means the rubber seal on the very edge needs to come off then be replaced. I've no idea how to replace little rubber seal all the way around and it will look silly without it so I havn't gone down that route. If you do, then let us know how you go? =) _________________

thanks for the info guys, i've got to pull all the inside door trims to do the stereo so i thought i'd do the outside trims at the same time. if the rubber seal has to be removed to chrome i don't think i'd do that, i think i'll just polish them and see how it goes.
That rubber seal can not be removed from the outside trims - It is welded to the frame..
got any pics chappo _________________

I dont know about 'welded' ? (Can you weld rubber to aluminium?)
But it is definitely stuck on with a strong adhesive of some kind, and I would imagine it would be destroyed if you tried removing it. As said, you'd need to replace it somehow and glue the new one back on in the same place - something I'm not going to be the guinea pig over! _________________

I'm lost.. I'm not sure where these welds are you speak of?
The black/darkblue bit in the photo is what you wanna polish up. The issue is the tiny rubber bit just below it (about 3mm wide between it and the paint) that can't be removed without destroying it i believe.
Those little marks in the middle of the photo are just corrosion/oxidation between it and the bit that hugs the window. They arn't welded together..?
Edit: And I haven't decided whether it's steel or alloy anymore. The way it oxidizes (into a whiter powder rather than redbrown powder) suggests it's not steel, but then other bits seem to colour a little so I'm really not sure haha. _________________
