Hey Guys,
Just brought myself a 3D printer and some items to get 3D scanning happening - Will take a few weeks to get here though.
Is there any parts that you would be interested in having printed? Parts will be limited in size to about 20cmx20cmx18cm.
At the moment I am thinking of making some seat gear cogs, center speaker gauge pod, stereo surrounds, speaker frames and other bits and pieces. I may also be able to print new interior trims -
If there is enough interest I will also look at making LED light PCB's that match the inside of the rear lights perfectly - These will be plastic with a conductive material for the circuit.
Cost will depend on the complexity of the parts but will be reasonable - Multiple part colours would also be available.

I wouldn't have thought seat gear cogs is something you could do successfully and have them hold up to be strong enough from a 3d printer? _________________
Yep I will be able to make you parts to for your own. You can even print upgrades when ever they are available
This is the one that I brought - http://www.reprappro.com/Mendel - It also has a future capability of adding additional heads which can be used for other materials or colours.
I want to be get dual/triple heads to be able to print with a conductive plastic - This way head light and tail light LED upgrades will be a breeze - And fully customisable.
Just have a search for Reprap on ebay and there is plenty of examples. Or thingiverse.com for a quite an extensive library of things that have already been designed.
Yes I will be designing all the parts in 3D however I will also have the help of 3D scanning so that I can make very accurate 3D models of existing parts.
First part will be designing my brake brackets - Will scan a hub, my brake calliper and then go from there - Will be easy to make adjustments to the design as I can just print it out of inexpensive plastic before getting it made on a CNC machine.

I've been thinking about a plan that would make use of 3D printing and scanning and I'm interested in hearing others opinions on whether it's plausible or not.
DIY head porting, you typically only get one chance to get it right so most people err on the side of caution and only do a very mild porting so they don't risk going backwards in flow numbers. But what if you could practice on something other than a perfectly good head. If you could take a cast of the stock port in rubber or some such, take a 3D scan of it to make it into a CAD model then either print out the stock port to practice on or make changes to the CAD image and print out prototypes. You could run each port on a DIY flow bench to see if your making progress or not and if it doesn't work then just print a new one to try something different. The hardest part I can see is taking the finished prototype and cutting the head to the same shape, you would probably have to print the finished port in slices and cut until they fit.
So what do you think? Could be worth a go or a waste of time? Before anyone says it, yes I know I should just pay someone to do it but that's just not how I roll.
You could even design your own intake and then get on over to www.shapeways.com and have them print print the final design in stainless steel via laser sintering (One big step up from the 3D printing).

Carpet retainer lugs! If you pop off the inner sill trim piece you will see these black retainers that connect to the carpet. Would be keen as for them.
