This should have been my first post but.....

Bought a 161 of Catters, seems pretty sweet lots of kms , but what a surprise, is a really comfortable drive even with HSD's (se on max soft thought) and an interior that's 100k newer than youd expect. Must have been a very slim Jap female owner. No bolster wear at all for 188k.

My first impressions, why f*ck with something so enjoyable. Its better than my old Celsior by miles. It actually does have some cues from my brother old E39 five series.

Anyway. mods must be done. Stay Tuned.

Well, after about 5 years away from the forum (and anything automotive) I've decided to poke my head in again (hope that hasnt brought on a groan from anyone who remembers me... Razz). Makes me smile to see that the forum has grown substantially from the ~100 members last I was on here in 2007 Smile

Still studying but now in my final semester after a bunch of degree changes and a campus change. I'm still aristo-less, but at least I'm driving something with the correct badge now - 1998 camry wagon. Hopefully next year I can upgrade to a supercamry early next year when I get a real person's job and can afford such things Very Happy

For now: reading. lots of reading. Especially to correct any misconceptions I may have formed over the past few years.

Hey fella's. Currently saving and hunting for a healthy JZS in SEQ area. Have owned a fair few obscure imports over the years. At a point where it's time for something auto, comfortable and 'sensible'.

Glad there's an Aus dedicated site. Will probably ask a few silly questions here and there.

Current DR30. On back-burner covered in dust..

Old A31 from back in the day. Now in a 1000 pieces Rolling Eyes

Gday
...My second attempt at this, after Chrome shat the bed harder than my porsche did..
Alright.. The names Tyson, I'm 19, from Margaret River in WA and my '91 Aristo V is my 3rd car, my first 2 being my epic shitbox '92 Honda Accord [sold] and my 1982 Porsche 924 snot bucket [which i still have, sadly.]
I Picked up the Aristo in Albany a few months back, even tho far from home, i got a good taste for the car in the windy hills near Walpole, and the derelict Highways closer to home.
Looking forward to doing performance upgrades on it, but for the moment im looking at new coilovers. The current wheels are disgusting; rashed and dented by the previous owned, and the current coilovers are fucked, making it feel like im driving a boat/VN Commodore.
But you know, all this shit takes great time, even more so at apprentice wages....

Hey, my name is Ryan I'm 25. I just moved back to Canberra after a few years of work in Christchurch NZ.

I am currently studying, doing a course to get uni entrance. Haven't really had much hands on experience with cars other than 2 pre-trade courses I have done. One in the mechanical side and one in motorbody trades.

I am on Aristo number 3 now, I had a 91 NA Aristo and a 95 Twin Turbo Aristo in NZ. I currently own what seems to be one of the only jzs147's in the ACT. I am having issues getting it legal though. Seems the snobby police in the ACT do not appreciate the import scene..

I am into cars, computers and music. I also enjoy going to watch drifting although I am not too sure where to do this in Australia.

Welcome man.

Some decent coilovers and some swaybars will put a big dent in that boatism.

Well I guess its not the police directly, more the local government testing station. I have a list of defects that need fixing.

Car too low to go over pits, tints too dark, B.O.V needs to be plumbed back in, exhaust has a hole in it and there is too much play in the steering.

The exhaust and steering are fair enough though I don't want an unsafe car haha.

It is slowly getting there. Any other ACT members on here?

That's a pretty standard list of defects really. Most of them are true for half the cars on here... can't really complain when they're just doing their job. Car is too low, tints are too dark, etc etc. Once it's on the road though, you usually have to either be doing something naughty or have some really nasty policepeople to pull you over for them again though.

Ah cool, from what I understand once I get it legal if I keep it registered it won't need testing again. I don't plan on driving dangerously haha. Not worth hurting anyone or getting my car crushed over.

I think most of it will be fixed under warranty, the dealer I got it off is being quite good about it.

Hi All,

Looking at purchasing an Aristo shortly. Was going to get a Cressida and do the swap but kind of can't be bothered!

Chasing something standard as I like to make my own mistakes and learn on a new car while modifying it. Also hoping to pick up something locally rather than import as the prices are not worth the wait.

Plans so far are to keep the car looking and sounding as standard as possible. But to have the car run consistent low to mid 12s down the quarter as I would like to attend WSID drags fairly regularly with this car. I'm thinking I need roughly 320-350rwkw to get there comfortably and reliably.

So to achieve that I am aiming for the following:

* High flowed turbos
* Larger Front mount
* Upgraded fuel pump and injectors
* Upgraded dump pipe and exhaust (have not researched thoroughly yet)
* MV Automatics 1.5 kit
* Some form of semi-slick on the rear. Car will not be a daily. Just a toy.

The only thing I'm completely unsure about is the tuning side of things so will be trawling through this site to see what the options are. From limited research the stock computer is a no go in terms of tuning.

Anyway that's where I'm at. Looking forward to learning heaps and getting a bit involved here as I have on other forums with my long list of past cars. This purchase will be number 15 I think.

welcome!

on stock turbos i got a 12.5@115 1.95 60ft, on stock stall with 245rwkw...(i hold the record for fastest stock turbos)

ur pretty much mirroring my mods ive got

Munro stage 4 high flows (awaiting my twin intakes)
hks FMIC
walbro 400 550cc injectors
ARTEC Y pipe and 3" ehxaust
mv 1.5 stage
Toms remapped ecu! (no boost cut, no speed cut, 7500rpm limiter)
mickey T semi's on supra wheels
(264 cams coming soon too)
stock bodykit, stealthily installd FMIC, stock supra/aristo rims.

its a good path to take imo, stealth and a destroyer!, my aim is mid-low 11s on the high flows, and and ultimate goal of 410rwkw with the stage 4s...all on the stock stall!

WE both in sydney too, i look forward to meeting you and seeing you @ wsid!
this will be interesting!

car blew its no1 turbine out the exhaust in october, almost finished putting it bak together, another 2 weeks and she'll be cruising the streets again, its my every other day car.

Hey Woggin,

I live near Parramatta. Would be great to check your car out once it's up and running again.

I'm looking at a car Thursday night with intentions of buying it if it is as good as the owner thinks it is. So hopefully will have it in my driveway on the weekend.

Well at least my plans are not too far fetched in relation to quarter mile and mods. I'm hanging to get into it so will throw up a thread once I get the car.

Cheers.

Unfortunately I think you'll will be complaining soon enough.... Would hate to be working for Qantas in a non customer service role... And the government sure doesn't look like it's going to do much to save more of your jobs...
