hows ya printer going? i got myself a 3d printer a couple weeks ago!
its basically a rip off of the makerbot replicator 2. CTC, using sailfish 7.6, Good lil thing, using makerware, replicator G, skeinforge, python, blender and freecad...
massive learning curve, this whole G code thing has got me perplexed tho...
replicator G is a lil confusing too, esp in conjunction with python....just confusing...
makerware is nice n easy tho! i like it! _________________
ill get some more clips going, the ones in the car are holding up well!
yea thats too large for my build platform, but, it wouldnt be hard to design a interlocking design so they would clip together, youd more than likely be painting it unit or something, so you could hide the join line somehow...if u left it as is off the build platform youd see the seam,
my build platform is 200w X 150d X 150h,
mine is a cheap version of a cheap version, so i dont know the actual limits of the build height, but itd be as simple as the height of the Z axis....which i cant remember the size of...can print anywhere from 300 micron, down to 100 micron, which is pretty dam thin...if i spent more time calibrating and setting up, might be able to get it down to the 80-90 micron range...but you have to remember, an item printed at 200 micron might take 5 hours...printing it @ 100 micron will make it take 10 hours.
Its not unusual for a build to take 20 hours to print...
i try and limit my prints to under 3-4 hours...havent printed many complicated things... _________________
So been a while since anybody has update this thread!!
I decided to re-do my stereo a bit, so i pulled the door pods out again, put some new speakers in the fronts, and i re-made my adapters, but i modelled them and printed out stock door pod to 4" speaker adapters.
I also decided to throw some new speakers in the mighty lil starlet, so i sound deadened the doors and rear quarters, and printed out door adapters for the speakers!!
4" is about the limit for one piece adapters, but can make larger ones, but they'll be 2 piece, combining the 2 pieces into one is easy and can still be sealed very easily!
my current project though, ive pulled my SAFC out of my centre console cig lighter/ashtray assy and am putting my afr gauge in there. will post photos as i progress!
ALSO printed out a MASSIVE dildo shifter for shits n giggles for the starlet!
so phones been having some issues these last couple days, so it doesnt want to connect to the pc, but ill get the pics over and up tomorrow! _________________
So this is my first revision, unfortunately, its too high to fit inside the enclosure, so its been scrapped, which sucks coz i love it!
so this is the 2nd rev, not the biggest fan of it, but it works and fits...
This is the final rev, and the final product! Printed in ABS and the surface lightly scuffed up to remove the gloss finish, which was uneven, and although this isnt completely smooth, or the most attractive, i really like it! i could vapor smooth it, but i like it.
will also be adding a tiny shroud on the left hand side. _________________
a 2nd would fit, the limitation would be the actual ashtray structure underneath, nothing a dremel cant fix though. i had to do a bit of dremeling to get the first gauge to fit...i then proceeded to burn myself quite badly hot gluing the fascia in...since u cant access the screws to attach the woodgrain, that also has to be hot glued in at one location (the other 1/2 locations can be accessed no worries)
i also printed a new lower for my starlet airbox so i can run the panel filter open!...used a 2 piece design that is interlocking.
build plate is actually 220, not 200. _________________
