The CD changers get confused and leave
one in the player and forget which part of
the stack they have to return it to.

The unit is effectivly jammed, and will have to be opened
and disassembled by someone who won't f**k it up.

My one also forgets everytime where the CD is,
everytime I disconnect power,
so if your gonna disconnect the battery,
eject the whole cartridge first.

This only happens to CD changers on their last legs anyway.

Time for an Ipod compatible upgrade ??

Agreed That sounds likely yes.
When you power off, whatever CD you're playing stays loaded.
But if you disconnect battery or such, the memory inside the player is lost and it can't remember that it's got a CD loaded so it tries to load another and/or eject the cartridge and gets itself jammed.

If it's working properly, you should be able to push the 'Open' button on the unit for the top to fold down, then push in the cartridge and it should eject itself (if it has power).
The other thing to check is therefore if it does actually have power at all. Mine there was a wire cut in the wiring harness (like, just worn thru) so it wasn't getting power and wasn't doing anything.

Question is, if yours has a CD loaded, I wonder what free music came with your new purchase? LOL

Ive come across this problem a few times... As mentioned its basically jammed. The problem is if you send it away for repair and it requires and new parts or a service manual for the stacker is required then you will be out of luck. There are no such things available anymore. Trust me ive gone through all of this a few times.
