hey fellas...
ive got a big single exhaust on my aristo...have only seen a couple on the net so its something a little different which was appealing. From putting it over the pit, the path it takes is a hell of a lot straighter than what a twin exit would be (judging by the path the stocker takes anyway) so im curious as to see if it would have any impact on power...still holding off on getting a dyno tune till i can sort out getting an apexi safc2 (damn boost cut!) Sounds sweet so im stoked with it anyway!
Not the best pic...but yeah..thats what it looks like from behind anyway.
noob questions, maybe I should have asked these before buying an exhaust :/
What are the sizes of the stock exhaust pipes, ie 3" into 2x2.5", etc.
What sort of catalytic converters do they have? I've heard these get changed during compliancing...
do they have 4 resonators?
turning to aftermarket, is there any advantage of 3" into 2x3" over 3" into 2x2.5"?
Do I have to replace the catalytic converter when fitting an aftermarket exhaust? What size inlet and outlet does it need? (I suppose outlet needs to be 3" for a 3" exhaust).
yeah well my compliancer has dropped off the front catalytic converter the one thats just off the dump pipee and manufactured a straight pipe to go there and changed the back one to a new one something to do with emmisions, dunno bout size but after having a look at it while its on the hoist it looks Uber restrictive think ill be runnin cat back 3" eith a resi and muffler wwooootttt

ummm... thats all for now
if your buying an exhaust from rampant most of them are only cat back systems that are 3inch from the cat down the middle of the car and then splitting into the 2.5inch twins.
you could then fit that yourself at home, but you may want to get a 3inch front pipe from the dumps and a 3inch catalytic convertor fitted to the car. which is what i will be getting done. _________________

so they replace the cat at compliance stage? DAMMIT i want to make my own single 3" system up using a cat further down the system and a 3" front pipe etc (cant make a true 'dump' pipe due to the twin turbo setup dumps having a valve in it for exhaust gas restriction and the fact you would have to remove the rear turbo to do it anyway = headfuck!!)
I am either going to do a complete 3" from the factory dumps back, or a 3" split into twin 2.5".. from what ive seen of other cars with twin holes in the bumper and only dump coming out it just looks cheap and incomplete.
meh.. tig welder and drop saw will let me chop and change anyway
ive only got one muffler on my vl and it is still fairly quiet under 3k, over that its very loud.
