alright, so i was bored at owrk today, and decided to do some calling around. I contacted a company in USA called Seibon. they don't make JZS147 hoods, cause the demand isn't high enough,
i was able to find out, if the GS300 hood will fit an aristo 100% and if someone in California, USA can get a hood to them in perfect shape, they'll make a mold and start making some carbon fiber hoods.
the price, would be right around 600USD per hood plus shipping. UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand all have retailers there that will ship half dozen or more hoods over to that location, then out to the individual people from there. so shipping won't be to much.
now the kicker is, they would need about 15 people with non refundable deposits in order to do it.
so carbon hoods are doable, if anyone wants, contact me with more details if your willing to set up a group buy and can get enough people, just a heads up _________________

i'm not to sure, i would assume about half, i don't know if i have the time to wrangle this up, since my new one is on the way, and this would take months to get organized, but there is a company willing to make some, just need a min. of 15 people interested, and not just saying "ya, i'll take one" but poeiple interested enough to cough up a deposit to pay them and actually show they'll buy one kinda thing _________________
Yeah fair enough, not sure how big the demand for this would be? just cos carbon fiber is more for sporty cars, not the lux barges..I am interested to see one though. _________________

Yeah it's illegal in AUS, unless for motorsport use obviously.
I think there are better savings to make in terms of weight on the car, but the bonnets with all the sound deadening would weigh a fair bit, i would think around 20kgs, and a carbon one would be around 5-7kgs, so some savings there. Of course you could just pull out some of the ridiculous amount of sound deadening elsewhere to save that weight.
So it would really only be for a looks sort of thing, that would get u some attention from the poo poo im sure, and give away the sleeper-ness of the aristo. Still im sure some people will be interested.

I pulled the puri out my 1st car thinking it'd be heavy and I'd save some weight. It's basically nothing, u pick up some space for amps though. Which weigh alot more than the puri ever did. If you want to save weight on these things there's better ways to do it. Pull all the seats out, and the carpet, then take out the sound deadening. Carpet back in, and chuck in a pair of light chairs. If you want to get serious, get full engine ECU, then go after the stock ecu, looms, and 100 other ECU's in the car. Lexen windows, and hack the doors apart, they weigh a fucking tonne. _________________
