So, why did you choose an Aristo?
Chose one because its leather, all power options, four doors, looks classy, doesnt attract attention from the police, awesome condition, and most of all because its got a 2jay... all for $13,000!!!
I didnt choose it so i could be 'cool' driving an import, or because not many people had one when i got it. i got the car purely because its a nice car for the price. i think its kind of gay when people get annoyed because more aristo's are popping up. the more, the merrier.
What are your impressions of the car?
Loved it ever since I got it.
What do you dislike about the car?
A few rattles here and there that I cant distinquish. The fuel bill.
What do you love about the car?
Probably the power and luxury you get for the price.

So, why did you choose an Aristo?
Starting from the time I owned an Ae102 with 7afe (this is when I just wanted to look different by getting parts from overseas, drop it low and probably just minor engine mods).. realized the whole drama of a proper turbo conversion (and on uni budget goodluck).. thought 20v st would do it.. nah 4agze (then turbo it ?) again nah.. $$ so put my last Ae101Levin for sale. Got a decent price and went to test drive a Vr-4 Galant, thinking (awd, tt, ayc etc would be what I want).. but in practical terms the lack of parts and experienced mechanics to work on it.. landed me back to the import place I got my Levins from.. and there she was.. I knew the potential of the 2JZ .. but Supras are such an impractical car .. so the choice was clear..
What are your impressions of the car?
It's top build quality, has 2jz goodness, definately not as bargey as I thought it would be.. the steering wheel is soo much lighter to manouvre.. it's deceptive.. until I looked around or at the speedo couldn't tell.. I was doing the speed I was.
What do you dislike about the car?
Probably that its not manual and the way they set out the fuel tank.. kills sooo much boot space, I mean I can't fit a suitcase in there for when I go to the airport .. dash looks old with the yellow bits (which can be fixed up ofcourse)..
What do you love about the car?
It's spacious, has power to get it going ... bogans don't know what it is, or what its capable of.. just seeing the Toyota badge in the rear gives them that sense of , ha some jap camry, lets take on it bois.. no.. I don't think so
*this was based on an average Aristo I took for a drive.,, my own one is just in the process of coming home (compliance then rwc)..

So, why did you choose an Aristo?
Always wanted a big sleeperish type car. Thought (Chaser/Cressida)
Did the sums on a Cressida/1/2JZ conversion. To much time and money to just to get it on the road.
All the cressida's I could find had like 300,000 k's especially the MX73 model. Why not get something from the factory that has everything already in it.
The fact that it was never going to be as fast as my old flatmate's/girlfriends cousins car didn't help either. (www.1JZ747.com.au) Now he's running a 2J block. He might need to change the plates.
What are your impressions of the car?
Smooth with heaps of potential.
What do you dislike about the car?
Took so long to be available for import. Wish the drivers seat went further down to the floor.
Basically because i couldnt afford a jzx90. I have been wanting a four door 'performance' import for a few years, because sports saloons are sweet (*see Nomuken ) So i went for an Aristo instead. I would have gone for one in the first place because I believe they are an overall better car, but the only auto 'option' sent me to the jzx family... I have just paid for my new Aristo today so we will see how the impressions go in a few weeks time!
i used to drive a Aristo. Got sick of it within a fortnight so got myself a Chaser instead.
I'm a toyota boy but the aristo let me down hard. Beside the 2JZ, the handling suck bigtime and the lack of support/aftermarket parts finally made me got the Chaser instead. plus it a manual....
Missus also got sick of her Aristo and now waiting for the Caldina to be ready so she could drive that
From a short drive it handles nicely.....
Last freaked with by homerrules on Tue Oct 02, 2007 10:53 pm; freaked 2 times in total
i have yet to drive car this smoothe that delivers so much ferocious power with such linearity for under $100,000k. upgrades are a cinch as they are essentially a 4 door supra minus the firmer ride and extra doors. i dont ask myself why an aristo anymore, its more why have i only woken up to them. only thing they dont out-do is the fuel bowser...
Once you have the front suspension components sorted they are a very nice car to cruise in. And quite amazing/deceiving how quick they are. _________________

hell it quick but not many aftermarket parts to do it up as I like to buy my car stock and do it up myself....
My chaser will probably be still slower than the aristo once it finishes but heck it more fun to drive
not many aftermarket parts!!??
its a 2JZ GTE for christs sake need I say more?
fyi it will be easier to find parts for the aristo than your chaser but you did mention the handling which is a fair enough point given that the car is more suited to crusing rather than tight cornering. but on that note I couldnt see why a LSD upgrade (if applicable) and new lower springs wouldnt suffice
I chose Aristo because I like the 2jzgte and the supra can't tow
secondly , the aristo only cost me 11,5k registered onto my name with 12 months rego and nothing major to fix ( everything works well )
third , it tow my race car with ease ( changed to heavier springs ) and doesn't use lots of petrol
I wish it has 2 smaller turbos so it has more instant power like soarer tt , instead of power on 4000rpm on-wards and i don't think many of aristo owner drives over 4000rpm regularly ( speeding and will loose points )
i drive as fast as possible in the week end on my kart or race car without beeing booked , thats lots of fun ... _________________

i just had a look at my car, and it looks as if someone has boosted it before, and left the setup half done, so it still runs as per factory, all I have to do is change the feed to the pressure tank, and put in my 2 boost controllers on easy to access hoses on the top.
I need a boost gauge first though. _________________

why did you choose an Aristo?
to be honest, i dont quote remember how i got into seeing a aristo for the frist time.
i chose it becuase it had the almighty 2JZ, but without the costs of buying a supra.
i wanted one because they werent common as dog shit on grass, although im kinda regretting it now, since it attracts alot of attention from people wondering what it is.
What are your impressions of the car?
BIG, smooth, powerful and BIG
What do you dislike about the car?
BIG i hate parking this thing. the little boot space i have compared to my previous cars. and the scarce parts if anything stuffs up.
sure people say look on IM, but its not as easy as going into repco and saying i want this etc.
What do you love about the car?
2JZ goodness, and the ass of my car looks phat

The thing that is pissing me off about my car now is how brittle the rubber hoses in the engine bay have become. I pulled off the pipe from air box to the steel intake pipes, and a fair chunk at one end has come off, so now am at a slight risk of stuff going into my turbos. Also when i removed the BOV to inspect, the plumb back hose crumbled in my hands, so now i vent to atmosphere and i also had to replace the vac line leading to it.
So now i need to make up a new intake pipe, and get myself a different BOV that is not always venting during normal driving. _________________
