Hi,

I am bought an aristo a few weeks ago (yes, I love it ), and I have been looking on here for a while.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what after market brake kits fit the aristo ie : brembo, AP racing etc ?

Thanks in advance.

Anything that fits a JZA80 fits champ, as long as you have the wheels to clear it. some kits you may need roll centre adjusters to clear the control arms though

also, you can run the supra 4 pot front 2 pot rear setup, this bolts straight on. there's also the option of LS400 4 pots, but i believe there are clearance issues when fitting them

ls400 4 pots require a roll centre adjuster kit ( nightpager ,ss kit, you zealand and the no name copies)

Thread Necromancy!

I've been thinking about brake upgrades lately, and have heard a few different things. So far, cost-benefit says a new Supra 4pot front setup from R&B in NZ is the best bang for buck. I have heard, however, that upgrading only front brakes and leaving rears standard can create issues with the ABS, and actually increase emergency breaking distance as the ABS engages earlier due to the increased ability to lock up your brakes. Any truth to that?

Following on from that, has anyone put the Supra 2 pot rears to match the fronts on? How does this work with the handbrake? I'd prefer to have a balanced brake system F&R.

Also, in order to be anywhere near legal, this brake upgrade would need to be engineered. Is this even possible in SA? On that note, does anyone know somewhere in SA that does engineering certificates?

My other option is to just get some slotted dimpled and gold passivated rotors from RDA and Greenstuff pads. This will end up costing almost as much as the 4pot fronts, but 4pots will require new lines. And it won't be nearly as good. Presumably this option is all legal though.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences?

pity your in sa could have taken mine for a run i mean stop ;-) i run red stuff all round on my aristo with stock brakes and man the increase in brake performance was wicked as a mechanic of 20 years i would have called you a liar if you tolded me that was all that was done to up grade the brakes on it if i had not done it my self. my bro has green stuff all round on his rz supra with his stock 4 pots front 2 pots rear and man there is not much difference between his and mine on the road. but when he dose track days you can see the difference with repeated hard braking. oh and buy EBC pads from the USA got front and rears landed to my door for less than the fronts in aus Smile

The Supra rear disks bolt straight on and work with the Aristo handbrake.

Am replacing all my discs soon. Anyone have any part numbers for front and rears? Or as Lysdexia said earlier, are they the exact same part numbers as a JZA80?

So, just to clarify. The 2 pot supra front rotors are exactly the same as the aristo items? May have just fund myself some cheap 2nd hand rotors if it is true :-D

Well talked to the guy and he said that the part number of the rotors are RDA7510S, link below.

http://brakewarehouse.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=0_56_893_894&products_id=12407&osCsid=cfa3r03fhi7dv9b4rhqd594504

but upon looking at what the aristo requires, it needs a RDA748S, link below

http://brakewarehouse.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=0_56_1119&products_id=18552&osCsid=cfa3r03fhi7dv9b4rhqd594504

But what gets me is that they are exactly the same specs... But the price difference is huge. What is the go?
