Hi all,

Ok so when i got the car it came with these rims stock. I love them, but the only thing is there is a sh!tload of oxidisation on them (especially the back two). I used some Turtle Wax chrome and polish but it didn't do anything.

Some of my mates reckon it will come out, some think it's caked in there for good. Pictures attached.

Does anyone know if i can get this stuff out???

cheers

I hate cleaning rims, it sucks, especially mine which have a coloured ring behind the spokes. rage. as for your rims, they look like they need a complete do-over, either sand, prime and paint, or replate, or something. They're thrashed, sorry to say.

Warefare is right, the damage is through the clearcoat. without stripping these and starting again they've had it

But what you can do is machine the clear coat off the lip and just polish it up I did this to the gf's Capri rims they had gone like yours. They came up pretty well I'll take a photo tomorrow and post a picture. I don't know how you would go about the spokes though but just a bit of idea for you I guess.

mate wheel repair shops will prob charge about $80 per wheel and sort it all out. so less then 400 you can do that or pay 1500 for different wheels. id just get it done ay. then the $1100 id chuck into the engine Very Happy

yeah $80 per wheel sounds alright actually. cheers for that 510ONE. although I do think at some point down the track i may get new rims. I've always had a soft spot for black rims. especially on darker coloured cars. Cool

oh and Stenz if you could take that pic (or describe what you did) that would be handy too Smile

Hey,
ok what I did was I have a friend at work who is a fitter and I got him to machine the clear off the rim and tidy up the gutter rash with a lathe. After this I used various grades of wet and dry sand paper then after sanding to a smooth finish I just wacked a polish bit thingy in the drill that I got from mitre 10 and some metal polish. Then after that I just hit it with another polish bit and some wax. Then I just 2pak sprayed the centres and then cleared the centre but not the lip. So a little bit of wax or polish on the lip every couple of months and they stay shiney. So yeah you could machine your lip/dish and paint your centres what ever colour you want.

Cheers stenz
