Hey all,

I'm curious about if there is any difference between radiators used on a turbo engine compared to a non turbo engine, (I'm talking about the 2JZGTE). I tried sourcing out the information I desire on here and also else where but with no success. I''ve been told that the radiators stock in a 2JZGTE are wider in the core and offer better cooling than that of a 2JZGE radiator
My reasoning behind all this is because I'm looking to purchase a alloy radiator, I was thinking of getting a supra spec radiator off ebay and altering it so it fits but now in thinking of getting one made up through the same mob and same price there abouts. Only thing is, is I need to send a sample to shanghai, China so they can replicate it and well I'm concerned with shipping/air/road costs etc as well the cost of the radiator itself. It all adds up and well i figure it'd be easier more cost effective to get a supra spec radiator or a jzs147 spec radiator that is said to be for 2JZGE.

What makes it worse is I'm a very indecisive person, so if someone anyone can lead me down an honest path and give me some good feedback please help me lol

Why are you bothering with an alloy radiator for an NA? Confused

If you really want an alloy one call PWR radiators - Don't expect much change from $800 though.

fit it up n see, doubt anyone here is really gna b able to here, majority are turbos owners, so na info is hard to come by!!

just buy one chuck it in!! shouldnt cost u more than 100 for a rad!! sold my old spare just a couple months ago for a pineapple ($50 incase u didnt know)

question tho, as chappo asked, why the need of additional cooling?? your car overheating?? dont bother with an alloy rad if it is, its not gna solve your issue, you have to find the source of your overheating

My car isn't Na just saying, I probably could have made that more clear, but yea my car is having slight heating issues and I took it to the local radiator specialist and he said it was clogging in the radiator. He recommended a flush by his standards which meant handing him money over and letting him do his magic. But I'm questioning whether to waste money on that when I want an alloy radiator anyway right? Which would clear up my issue and give me what I want.

So yea my question remains would a Na radiator be substantial enough to run in my car?

In that case no a non turbo rad won't work,as they are smaller than a gte version. Just get a alloy supra radiator from eBay, and have it modded to fit. Pretty simple job to get done. That's if you really don't want the current one flushed out that is.

Great, thanx for that Lachlan.
That's what I was looking for exactly, helps me narrow down the choices I have .
However I think before I get too far ahead of myself I might seek a 2nd opinion on the issue I'm having with the heating just incase it may not be being caused by my current radiator, atleast then I can get the problem resolved and then get a alloy radiator and not have the worries, wondering if the issue is still present or not..

Thanks everyone for your help much appreciated Bewdy

You want a second opinion? What is your issue? Much better asking us than your local hack mechanic.

just to re-cap, getting a larger cooling system, is not going to make your problem disappear, it shouldnt cost more than 100 buxs to get your radiator serviced, its money well spent for that reassurance before you go dish out for a blingy radiator!

my original rad was 100% blocked according to my radiator servicerer-er and i never had a single overheating issue, i knew it was blocked, but didnt realize it was so extensively blocked.

maybe you can see if a fellow 147er in brizzy has a spare...i kno i sold mine off to Nick not too long ago, he lives up on the gold coast....
