Fair enough, in that case its best if you get him to do it at his work than at home. I'm also just assuming that he does the work on the side, I could be wrong.
I used to work for a workshop (can't name names for obvious reasons) where one of our mechanics approached a customer of ours offering to do some performance upgrades on the side for him. Long story short, this mechanic used an old oil feed line grabbed from the workshop and didn't hook it up correctly. The customer's brand new $2.5k turbo that he had fitted to the car ended up being starved of oil on a regular basis and shat itself in no time.
Its not the exact same scenario I know, but it is a good example of how risky it is to have someone do the work in their backyard if something does go wrong with it. The customer tried to claim that we were liable for his turbo failure and it ended up being this huge debacle
So yeah, that whole deal kind of took the shine away from backyard mechanics.
