....back on the Turbo specs, there are a lot of places claiming that the Jap spec turbos are CT12B's even HPI have got it wrong?

It's only when I googled it a bit more I found some places claiming that Jap Spec 2JZGTE's are CT20's.

How is there so much confusion, should be straight forward I thought.

So which is correct?

Jay Confused

Jap is CT20, US is CT12B (as per my post on the 1st page).

HPI have got it wrong (and not the 1st time & wont be the last).

Could be onto something there.

Any idea how much a set of new headlights are? Im half keen to spend the money for some, but not a rediculous amount (which they probably are). I want them clear, not this old faded look.

Maybe ask Aaron (nakedterror), he'll be able to let you know about the pricing no doubt, and prolly find a set for you?

New import Soarer are around the $800 retail from Toyota, so i would suspect Aristo to be similar.

Mate you just need to polish the lens cover. Use metal polish and they will come up looking like new.

I would try something like that before buying new ones for sure.. silvo and brasso can be bought from any supermarket! Smile

I’ve heard 2000 grit sandpaper to remove the outer yellow UV affected layer then polish with scratch-x polish (will fill small scratches too) is the go.

Then just re-apply scratch-x every couple of months from then on.

http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/turbos.htm

http://www.turbosupras.com/pages/en/pages/technical/CT20%20turbochargers.htm

I'm currently weighing up having some stock turbo's rebuilt with T3 60-trim fronts and steel rear wheels in order to relliably run some boost. I should imagine with the larger fronts slightly more lag, but I want to retain the Std Seq system. I've fallen in love with it Smile

I wil also have the wastegate opened up and a new flap made for this along with some porting etc.

Will be interesting to see what the outcome is.

I'm difficult in that I don't want to single turbo this car, so need to retain the factory look and driveability in the bay Smile

Yes much can be said for having a system that 'looks' factory.

Why not just weld the standard waste gate shut, and whack on an external gate?? you will have the manifold off anyways, so can modify it with ease then ...

Something I've toyed with over the years is the idea of running a pair of STI turbos, such as a VF23 or VF28. A pair of 320hp roller bearing turbos which are relatively cheap (say $1400 the pair) are quite appealing Smile

Bit of fabrication needed for the manifolds and dumps, but subie dumps are cheap and up pipes easily obtained Smile

Dennis I believe has done this. A coupel of other people have on another forum also, appears to work reasonably well Smile
