got pinged for no immobiliser (fair enough I guess, it is the law) and no airbag light on start-up. I'm hoping it will just be the light is busted. Any other ideas in case that is not the case?

pinged for no airbag light? That's pretty rough!
Yeah, not too happy about that. I'm just happy they didn't get me for anything mechanical that will be expensive to fix.

If the globe needs replacing in the dash cluster have about 20 you can borrow Nick
I wouldn't mind borrowing a globe from one of your spare dashes if that is alright. I would hate to borrow a globe from another light and have them ping me for that one being out. Although, I was thinking I could easily borrow it from the cruise light, I doubt they will have a problem with that.
All the lights in the dash are interchangeable, right?
sorry to hear of the tales of woe you have had to go through mate, in the end it will be worth it i am sure.
just out of interest, how long are the lines these days at the welshpool pits areas. i heard guys literally camp there...is this true? all the best mate.

I went to the East Perth one. Was told to go anywhere but Welshpool because of what you are saying.
Was told to go on Wednesday, as that is the best day, but I couldn't get there then because of work commitments.
Will go there next Wednesday/Thursday once Dave gets my Alarm on and I get a new Airbag Light (if that is my problem).

Geez guys, you've all been having so many problems.
I went on a friday afternoon to Welshpool.. had about a 2-3hr wait yes, but he basically took the car for a spin and passed it.
No immoboliser, was on lowered aftermarket springs, ball joints a tiny bit out, cable tied stuff on the front, random shit not working. He didn't giv a stuff hey.
I must've got insanely lucky.?
He couldn't even read my tacho counter my dash lights were so bad, but still didnt giv a stuff. _________________

Hey Nick, if you remind me on the day we are doing your alarm i can check out that globe at the same time if ya like.
Cool, if I haven't sorted it myself by then, I'll let you know.
I was just looking through the GS300 manual and the problem may be as simple as a blown fuse, the dash being connected wrong or the globe being out, so will have a look tonight after work. Just bought a multimeter to do some testing tonight iicbf.

As long as your speedo is working, they don't care about the rest of the dash! My problem with the aribag light is that all safety equipment must be in good working order. I can't show that it is working without having that light come up!
Nick did you go to Midland and get the old bloke English bloke with glasses.
Sounds to me that you did, so did I.
Jay.
I went to East Perth, but I did get an old bloke with glasses, although he sounded Australian. I don't think he had been doing this for that long, as he had to ask one of the other blokes a few questions (the Irish one, looked like the boss). All the guys were old, two had glasses, one was Irish, one English and two Australian. I guess it would be a good thing to retire to for a mechanic who just can't be fukt anymore.
The Irish one actually said the immobiliser was not an issue, but my guy went inside to check to see what the deal is with the airbag light not coming on and when he came out he said I couldn't pass with both those issues. I reckon if the airbag light was OK, I would have got through with no immobiliser.
Coincidence, just took mine over the pits this morning at Midland. Got there at 6.15am. 12 vehicles in front of me. Got my turn at 10.00am.
Took a calculated risk after strategising with Jay and kept the 18's on the car....paid off! They didn't worry about the aftermarket rims at all, but pinged me seriously on the ride height. :/ It measured at 102mm with one occupant but legally cannot be below 100mm fully loaded.
Changing springs tomorrow, but not too upset about it as the current ride quality is disappointing at best. Appears that the former Japanese owner has simply picked shorter springs from another vehicle to lower the Aristo without paying any attention to the effect on ride characteristics.
So, I will be back at Midland on Friday with my bacon McMuffin brekkie to waste another 4 or 5 hours.
There is no choice of inspectors. You get whoever is available when your turn comes. I got the one with no emotions. One powerball and he's outa there. Specific areas of intensive checking include: Oil leaks, ball joints. Took a long time looking for any visible engine mods. Didn't care about the wheels.
Guy in front of me had a sik STI with 20's. The other inspector was closely checking his engine when the STI's alarm accidentally went off. Inspector's head nearly goes through STI bonnet. Lucky I didn't get him.
