yeah 2k for full personalised..
like all letters or numbers etc..
otherwise its like $395 for 2 numbers and 3 letters (or vice verser)...
And is a one off payment - dont need to pay the yearly fee that i think its NSW's has?

Its more fun making up the numbers and letters though Smile

in Vic, it's $400 whether you do the full custom plate, the custom mix or whatever. And if you want a standard reissue plate, it's only $120 Very Happy

Sounds like other states get ripped!

I have two sets of plates, but neither I will put on my Aristo. One set from my old GTO will go on my new GTO, the other set currently on a mates Supra will be sold off after he made them famous for me Smile

ok - to add insult to injury, I got the bill for the work they did to my Aristo.

Now, this took over 6 weeks for them to do (I told them I didn't need it in a hurry, but ffs!!)

Locate p/s fluid leak and repair - a couple of o rings - wasn't a pump or rack problem

supply and fit new battery

Alter JZS161 exhaust as supplied by me, to fit my car

They billed me $1550!

Apparently $410 in parts, the rest is labour. So $100 for a battery - tell me where the rest has farken gone?

I called and expressed, in really really mild terms ( seriously, I was way too nice) my displeasure - I got bullshit excuses as to why it cost so much and that they've already discounted the amount of labour and blah blah blah.

I'll be speaking to them again tomorrow, but I think even half the amount they've billed me is on the high side.

fark!

yes, that does suck balls.

sorry to hear but lets see if you cant get them to make it something more realistic.

a mechanic once did a similar thing to me. he was previously really good to me, doing things quickly and cheaply, but one day just hit me with a very unrealistic bill for clutch change + RWC.. they can be pricks.

the annoying thing is - I made clear to them that if they do the right thing by me, they would get all my referred business. I'm in the habit of building up good relationships with other businesses as it benefits everyone - me, my customers and the other business.

The thing is, they're a partnership - guy about my age and his uncle who is near retirement age - the young guy did other work on my other cars and the invoices were more than reasonable - this one. So I'd be happy to stick by him - he knows his stuff and is a really good guy, but only if I could get a guarantee that he'd be the one doing the invoicing!

Have you picked up the car yet?

If not, when you're there, ask them to physically show you what was changed. Once they show you, you can easily point out how many hours it would take to replace and how much each part costs.

I had this happen to me once, so i got them to walk through what they did, and how long the mechanic said it took. Added that with a detailed list of parts, then promptly asked for half the bill. Worked a treat, though they were very unhappy the machanic "owned" them. lol

Put it in this perspective=

O-rings: $50 MAX
Battery: $150 MAX
Exhaust flanges, rubber mounts: $100 MAX
Other parts?: $110
Labour: $1140???

Unless they're doing a engine conversion, how the hell can they justify that... lol

you poor bugger!
I hope you sort them out good and proper!
Ben

WOAH wtf is this all about ! Suprised

Sounds like to me they whacked to be honest an extra $500 worth of labour for something to do as whats the going rate of mechanics these days ? Shits me as you get alot of genuine people out there who'll do the right thing (looks at Aaron) and other people who'll do the job then charge hidden markup's/imaginary labour etc, etc.

Fark me ive had some scary bills in the past as trying to learn more and do more myself !

I like Bens approach myself but im sure with some gentle persuading you'll definetly get a reduced bill Aaron.

But like you said Aaron what goes around comes around as word of mouth in some cases can make or break businesses as know about that all to well Sad

6 weeks hahaha...probally charged you for storage fee !

I picked the car up a week ago, took them that long to make the bill up. And I really do think they made it up!

I reckon they loaded the price up to cover their fuck up with my front bumper
