i got told.... doesnt have to come off if its just the rear doors and rear windscreen... you can paint them black if you want... ASLONG as you have a left side side mirror, and rear view mirror...

BTW they look better with same tint on ALL doors...

Yep that is supposed to happen Wink

I've seen a lot of RX330's Aussie delivered ones with the same. Perhaps in some states you must have no tint / less tint on your front driver / passenger windows?

Every state / compliance place has different interpretations on tint.

Might aswell put cellaphane on the windows Razz

When I was at Midland pits, they loved the light meter and used it on every car that was anything more than lightly tinted.

Same at the East Perth pits. Defected the guy in front of me, even though he claimed he asked for the darkest LEGAL tint!

You have to be careful when asking for the darkest legal tint as sometimes the factory glass can be shaded and this adds to the overall tint.

The tint company should be able to test your glass before the fitting and see if the film will put you over the magical 35% mark.

my 34skyline came with rear "Privacy glass" or "UV Cut Glass"
Tint inside the glass, if this is the case, then its fine, if not, hope you get a good inspector Razz

yeah, isnt it just all anal retentive when a film is added to the window, but if the window glass itself is causing major tintage, it's ok?

Must be different in Victoria as my rear window and rear side windows are ULTRA dark. I believe down here it is ok as long as it is not the front windows or the windscreen. Considered ilegal tint I guess in that you couldn't legally use it on the front windows and I wouldn't want to.

From what I remember when I looked into it,
over here (WA) it used to be legal to have completely blacked out rears as long as you have front sides > 35%, windscreen clear and at least 2 mirrors. This is how limo's do it, being unable to see behind them except with mirrors.

Then, they changed it. And made limo's a special case. Now it's 35% on all glass.

Having the rear windows tinted extremely dark and the front windows light is considered more stylish in Japan. It gives you the pimped out respect AIIIIIGHT look.

The tint on the rear door glass and rear window is black, you can't see in the car! I didn't get pinged for it, although I think officially the rule is that the darkest tint can be is 65%, it must let 35% of light through. When I had a previous car done by tint-a-car that's what they said was darkest legal.

my car was a "test car" for RAWS imports and they have the same tint in the rear. Didn't to have take it off even when at registration. Now I got the front windows tinted at 35%.
