I have thought of doing something similar, but instead of KKR's some OEM turbos.

Should be interesting to see how it goes WRT response, mid and top end power.

Thoughts?

Jay.

I'd be after a bit of response mate. (hey where did the burnout smiley go, would have been perfect here)

It's interesting that they have chosen twin KKR 380's, the same as their (Otomoto's), new kit for the LS1/LS2. Sounds like a big of a lag recipe?

Jay.

me? i used the 1/4 mile ET thing. i can only see me stuffing up for using KG when it wanted pounds, in which case, i get a 23s pass, which is more believable.

still, i used some info for a top fuel dragster, and if i bung in 7000hp (about average there...im envious lol) and does a 5 second pass, it says it weighs 4500 pounds. bit much imo (but then yeah, i guess at such quick times, the reaction time makes a massive difference

A mate of mine had twin TD06's on his 2Z, made over 1000HP, and didn't have half the lag that another mates similarly powered RB26 had with a big single.

You also need to consider the difference of internals between a lot of turbos. This can affect the way a turbo reacts in a big way... Bigger turbo doesnt always mean lag.

For example...

A Trust T88 plain bearing on a 2JZ

compared to:

A HKS T51R-SPL ball bearing on a 2JZ

99% of the time the HKS will always spool up faster. In fact there are 2JZ's going around which are spooling T51R turbos to full boost by 3500-4000rpm.

Yep when you turn off my g/f's S13 with T29BB turbo, you can hear it continue to spin for around 30 seconds afterwards!

the new t88's are balbearing though... ?

thats why u go hks if u want response the turbos are just heaps better, could be why they cost so much more

I'll be going PHR when I do a kit. Better response than practically everyone else on the market Not Worthy

good turbo, but I'll stick with the PHR kits. Still a garrett turbo, but they've done the research and they know what works on 2jzs Smile

PHR Stage 2 (GT62) Turbocharger

The PHR Stage 2 turbocharger can make up to 650 RWHP at 29 psi of boost pressure. The Stage 2 has very fast response and more midrange torque than the GT60. Perfect for street or road race cars wanting a bit more power on the straightaways.
Price: $1350 Std. Bearing, $2050 Ball-Bearing USD
