Hey guys would really like your info on this especially those who import cars for a living.

I am picking up my car tomorrow from a workshop in Brisbane and would like to know excalty what they have to change or check to comply to Australian Standards.

I have been sent an invoice for almost $4k and the only extra items listed are the new tyres! WTF else was done to cost this much I'm not complaining about the price I would just like to know where all my money was spent Confused

a lot of the price takes into account how much it costs the workshop to get a license to comply the car.

That said, Jamie posted his compliance sheet:

If its shogun/river city compliance, they will charge you extra to replace your battery, if it was dead or not. They tried to charge me for it when the battery was perfect... they received a nice polite conversation from me with lots of swearing Razz

Things to check:

addtion of side indicators, replacement of side mirror glass, gas tank restrictor nozzle, brake pads, ball joints (if you have the recall model) babyseat harness mounts, all the oils, diff, engine, auto, brake, powersteering and radiator (though most shops only do the engine and auto, grrrr) and anything else that should be ADR.

Hope it helps!
Ben

They don't do the tank filler restrictor anymore.

They also disconnect the brake & parking lights in the boot, and also the outer edge brake lights. They also should give you a user manual.

As Ben said they do engine & auto fluids / filters, the rest I think they just check, eg: by brakes were checked but not replaced.

as part of ADR, they MUST change the brake pads as they are not compliant with australian standards. Same with brake fluid etc...

If they have not done so, take the car to an expensive mechanic, get them replaced and send them the bill Smile

If they complain, then you can offer to report them to your state transport authority, then they loose their lisence to comply cars.... hahahahah

I am an evil bastard arent I! The Finger

I dont think the manual is anything special..
Basically just stand things, not like the full on proper Aristo Manual..
I had one in the Supra i had, and it was just like, these are seat belts, and the child restrants are here etc!

But i'm sure someone who has an Aristo Manual from compliance could let you know if its really anything you'll want!

A manual is one of the most important things in the compliance process (as far as the govt is concerned)

If you didn't get one, chase back up the compliance place and demand one. They must give you one. If they don't a call to the right places will see their RAWS license suspended n then they'll wish they gave you what they should have.

Why do they disconnect the rear inside brake lights?
Also does anyone know how to re-connect the window winders to use with out a key?

The compliance stuff stipulates that a car can have only one center rear brake light. Those ones on the boot that i would each call the inside half of the side light assembly are apparently "center brake lights" so they must be disconnected.
pffft

As for the window winders, ive heard numerous things about this. What exactly is the problem? I believe they snip one of the wires that runs into the drivers side panel.... I havn't looked to confirm tho yet.

I hear that depends if you have a turbo timer or not. I guess if you have a turbo timer they need to make it so they don't work with the turbo timer going as well.

All that was done to mine was brake pads, oil and filter, air filter, tyres, child restraint, etc nothing out of the ordinary. Still cost close to $4k though but the guys at ISASO are tops! Very Happy

To my knowledge, turbo timers are actually illegal.
