As far as im aware it is illegal to leave a car unattended while running (saftey risk) but turbo timers arnt.....so you have to be sitting in the car while the turbo timer is going

I think thats right.....been a long time since I looked up the rules on them.

turbo timers are fine so long as they are linked to your handbrake so if it drops it cuts your engine!

you can get 3 point immobilizers which have a turbo timer and linked to handbrake for around $400-500 and they're completely street legal

as part of ADR, they MUST change the brake pads as they are not compliant with australian standards. Same with brake fluid etc...

If they have not done so, take the car to an expensive mechanic, get them replaced and send them the bill Smile

If they complain, then you can offer to report them to your state transport authority, then they loose their lisence to comply cars.... hahahahah

I am an evil bastard arent I! The Finger

My recollection was when I asked what work was done, I was told that engine oil was changed, new oil, air & fuel filter, and other fluids were 'inspected' - along with brakes.

Either I was jibbed, or the person I spoke to at the compliance place was not sure exactly of what was done / not done.

I guess i paid top dollar for my compliance work but everything was done to the letter as ive checked it all over top to bottom.

Some cowboys who charge cheaper in theory dont comply it fully to save costs and make more money in principle & do alot more cars quicker and cheaper thru the door.

Turbo timers are illegal in WA if you leave the car unattended as ive had my arse handed to me by a cop when i left my car running and car in shutdown mode when i went to the video shop many moons ago.

You'll find the previous application (first link) failed because whoever submitted it didn't do their homework properly.
This is why the Aristo took so long to get to Aussie shores.

After it failed, someone resubmitted with better "evidence" and it was allowed.

Have to remember the government makes us "enthusiasts" jump through loops to import cars. If it can fail a SEVS application, it will. Just to throttle the tide of cars coming over.
