Just finished fitting a second hand 2J into my aristo and I just added up how much it cost me to do.
And I thought I did very well in terms of cost.
Here is a bit of a brake down of cost and see if any one has done one this cheap?

2JZGTE ENGINE WITH TURBOS AND MANIFOLDS ETC 70KLMS WATER PUMP AND ALTERNATOR LUGS BROKEN OFF BLOCK $800
COIL PACK PLUGS $60
OIL FILTER, OIL, TRANS OIL, AND DRIVE BELT $120
TIMING BELT & TENSIONER FREE
BLOCK REPAIR WELDED IT MYSELF
LABOUR FREE DID ALL THE WORK MYSELF
So all up it cost me $980 and it runs sweet
Think that must be the cheapest 2J ever.

HOLY CRAP! That's so cheap. Did you do all the labor yourself?

no i dont think he did... unless 'BLOCK REPAIR WELDED IT MYSELF
LABOUR FREE DID ALL THE WORK MYSELF' translates into english as he did it himself.

All work done by myself.
That is welding removing old engine changing all parts over and refitting.

Its always more satisfying to do it yourself. lol

Seriously considering the caliber of some mechanics these days, why pay for someone to do it. If you run into probs call on this forum for help.

Well done Tim, you'd have to have the best bang for buck aristo, at least in melb anyway.

Great work Tim, using your head & calling on the resources around you has seen this not burn too much of a hole in your wallet!
