Hey guys.
Gonna make a post on 'claying' the paint on your car.
After almost a year of owning a black Aristo with rather shit quality paint i was really screaming WHY DID I BUY A BLACK FCKN CAR!?
Then yesterday I decided to do something about it and went out and bought a Mothers Claybar kit. This kit costs around $50, BUT it contains a bottle of Canubra wax as well which is NEEDED for the process.
Process: Put aside approximately 5 hours to do this properly.
1.Wash car, then Chamois dry.
2. Clay the paint back.
Make sure that the area is nice and clean. Kneed the clay into a flat 'machbox' size.
Then spray the area with MOthers instant detailer untill it is covered (by the end you will use around 2/3's of a bottle of the stuff! so be generous!
Rub the clay back and forth untill the paint becomes smooth. Dont let the clay 'grind' on the paint by not having enough spray.
Do this over the whole car. You will now notice that the paint feels MUCH more smooth. And as you rub the detailing spray off with a microfiblre cloth notice how dirty it is EVEN after washing the car!
3. Wash the car again (to get detailer off) then chamois dry.
4. Now the car is clean again, and the paint has no contaminants.
5. Wax the car with the provided canubra wax. Make sure car is cool and in a shaded spot. and allow for the wax to dry into a powder (this makes it easier to remove)
6. Remove wax and enjoy!
This whole process takes quite a while as the claying needs to be done thoroughly.
This is a GREAT chance to cut back the paint too so that it REALLLY shines. I wanted to do this, however dont have an orbital to do it properly with. This will be my next step.
Here are the pics!
Dont REALLY show off the paint, the front one does pretty well though.

Quick Video there, that one does not really show how many times it needs to be done properly.
keep going untill she is SMOOOOTHH! _________________
i got my brother to bring me some claybar from work (John Hughes) and i went over my car with it using water, not that lube stuff (unnecessary IMO, water works, its just there so it glides over and doesnt stick), and it went from being nice, to being jizz in my pants, have a few pics which ill try to post up, washed, claybar, waxed, soooo beautiful, i find that now that i have claybared it several time the body is consistently smoother!
only problem is finding a cool shaded area at my house, since the garage is full, i cant do it there and theres no trees, so i have to wait for the sun to go down!!
but my gosh it looks sooooo good when you spend a good 4 hours rubbing her (it was meant to sound dirty) _________________

Wow, sometimes I wish mine was black... then I look at it from 10 metres away, it's dirty as all fuck, and it looks okay. ahhh. They do come up a treat though.
Looks amazing!
Hopefully it lasts a bit longer than just polishing it..
mmmm not really, i actually came to the conclusion that if i wax my it becomes statically charged thus attracting more dirt,
i know wat ur thinking, talking bullsh$t,
but i actually tried it, one day, i did the whole thing (claybar wax etc.) and it got filthy within 3 days, then after the 3 days, i washed it chamoised it and thats it, stay clean for over a week!
yes note for a 3rd time, it must be done in a cool shaded place!! _________________
u are right woggin................. but it all depends what u are useing (polish),and what cloths
u are useing to remove the polish ????
and again,if the body of the car is hot/warm,u will magnify this problem !!! (dust attraction)
sounds stupid........... but after i polish my car, i hit it with the hose and shami it off,
and good for a week +++, if it dont rain ???? or the grandkids dont attack it !!!!!....nick...
edit::: what u have to remember,MOST car makers untill the late 90,s were useing acrylic paint
then spraying a clear coat over the top of that !!!..thats why u see some "low maintance cars"
with the clear coat lifting off the paint, (respray required)
some (S2) aristo,s were lucky enough to get the improved "2 pak" kind of paint, and models beyond this, any pearl coloured car ,has i believe ?, a 3 coat system of spraying the car,
no problems !!!....its the flat (non metallic) paint jobs on early (S1) aristo,s u have to be very
carefull with !!!!!!!!!!!!
nick, I have a s2 aristo (dark blue metallic colour)..paint is still almost perfect...however, its like there is no clear coat on it as it scratches very easily (minor scratches over the body).
any idea why? _________________

Druss, that is because the paint has no 'protection.' Waxing the paint a couple times, then a polish on top should fix this problem mate. _________________
DRUSS.................. are haveing problems with the whole car ,or just parts of it ???
and DO AGREE...with B/INJUSTICE.. for want of a better term, u need to toughen up your paint !!
u will need a good (machine cut) and hand polish...and then at least 3 times after that
fortnightly (polish again)... u can go and buy the real eexxxyyy stuff from say autobarn???
but ,for me i have found the "TEC WAX 2" to be very good, almost as good as some very eexxyy
polish,s and it does (in time) take out your swirl marks ,after orbital cut,and brings out
the fleck/matalic in most paints !!!........cheers nick..
