Can I just add (can be deleted later by mods to clear the thread), but please only add business that don't ask "What's an Aristo?" or "What kind of engine is that? A v6?" when you show up. I don't mind them being rare, but I feel if you want to recommend a business to the aristo community, they should at least have some knowledge of our cars. _________________

Yeah that's sorta why i wrote TRUSTED in the title. I take that as being shops that YOU have personally used and would recommend. Hopefully we can compile a good list.
I have had work done twice recently (on the Rodeo, new cat and new flexible joiner) and Pat is a freaking legend.
I don't usually use workshops at all but Pat does a great job and charges bugger all.
Pete has also had some work done there (that's why I went there in the first place, it's 30mins from my place), and he can't speak high enough of Pat either.
So a big recommendation from me to you guys to give him a go. _________________

they quoted me $90 to get my cat gutted, they ended up charging me $120 coz it was the factory 'metal cat' and they couldnt break it, so they cut the cat out welded a straight piece of pipe there and left the EGT? sensor(or o2 sensor, dunno which is it) out, since then my car has chewed petrol!!

Ok, I agree shit sometimes happens but did you go back and speak to him about it?
I've never met a nicer bloke that works in a muffler shop...the rest have all been miserable bastards. _________________

I used him years back when I had my FJ20 S12 - the guy is a legend, knows his stuff and prices/work are top quality. _________________

Yep - they're on ebay. I found their online prices to be a bit hit and miss. Still pretty competitive though. _________________

Any decent general workshops / exhaust places / other good guys south of Adelaide? They all seem to be out Norwood/Wingfield way which is a right pain in the ass for me.

Troy at Mildren Race Engineering in Thebarton is a great tuner and a top bloke. Tuned the Power FC in my supra and also the Power FC in my cousins skyline. Did a great job on both for heaps less than we were charged to have a garbage tune (which had to then be rectified by Troy) by another Adelaide operator my cousin now calls "the king of ping". They also have a fully equiped mechanical workshop. Can't comment on their work other than the tuning as I havent had any done there but they always have a good cross section of cars (mainly imports) in there. Last time there was even an insane twin turbo HSV they were working on for a customer.
For exhausts I would highly recommend AAA exhaust on Deacon av at Richmond. They have done a couple systems for me and the result is always great with a very resonable price. While there I have actually seen more well known exhaust shops ute's in there picking up mandrel bends as AAA have a massive workshop and bender and sell pipe and bends wholesale to other shops. They'll make you a system with less welds as they can bend it on site and it doesnt have to fit in the back of a ute to get back to thier store!
If you want to know what exhaust shop not to go to shoot me a PM. It's one of Adelaide's best known yet after my experience with them id rather burn the shop down than go back there. I thought it might have been an isolated incident but having spoken to a few people about them I can only come to the conclusion they are the worst in the business.
They gave me a quote for $3000 to do the front half of my exhaust (dump pipes), my I/C pipework and turbo lines. I left them the car and went away with work. They then sent me an email with an invoice for $8000..... and wanted it paid before I returned home to check out their work. Needless to say I told them to get f**ked but a big saga unfolded and on top of this their work was vomit.

Whilst I haven't used these guys for an exhaust I have bought all my mild steel bends from them and they've been more than helpful - As you said a lot of the bigger exhaust places buy from them wholesale (I was actually told by one place to go direct as it would be cheaper and easier).
