ok peeps, had a lot of guys asking ,what" IS LEGAL"in regard to modifying 147 headlights ??
its rained & rained on the gold coast for over a week now,(am getting bored !!)
so .....have started a set of headlight modification, after popping down to the cop shop,
to ask,what i can/cant do with these ???

the rules are fairly simple, no colours!!! although,i showed them my "blue rings" in the car,
although frowned apon, they would NOT !!..defect the car ,or pull me over for these !!!
they like simple WHITE !!! they made comment,my blue rings are "slightly tinted blue"

as long as u dont "blind" on comeing cars, thats fine..(says a lot for HID,S ???)

nothing "flashing" when driveing at all !!!

no white or differant coloured indicator bulbs !!!!......must flash "orange" !!!

to the point...pic below, of what i have started, and will update till finished ....!!!
give me your thoughts guys, and idears ????
will update pics till u see the finished product ....

http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4357/p2060006.jpg

as u can see,i have placed these super flux clusters i have, around the low/high beam
projectors, and have placed 2 into the side light area !!!
now these suckers are "bright" so will reframe from putting any around the indicator bulb
area !!!
next step will be,orange 5 mill,s all around the rear edge of the frame, which will light up
and flash ,obviously with the orange bulb !!!!
after this....i will be fitting "white" ccfl rings to the low & high beam area !!!
although there will be a shit load,of wires comeing from the rear or the headlight,
i will be "grouping" these to make these lights user friendly !!! (almost plug and play )
all the best nick.................. Very Happy

i here what u are saying fella...147 lights are crap (stock) and then if your perspex covers
are all misted up ,u cant see shit !!!
i beleive this is ,the main reason ,on top of haveing a crap load of "lines" though the covers ??
see pic below !!!
i will be "cutting" this area out, which happens to be a fair bit of cast metal peeps ????
in the hope of inproveing the "light" projected by your globes !!

http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/3756/p2060007.jpg

unfortanatly, i have done my best ,to get "clear perspex frt covers"for our headlights ???
but the japs want a bloody fortune...IE:: $350 + just for clear covers....(then postage)

fella.....i have seen,a set blacked out,in a black 147...BUT.........
these defuse the light from the globes, and make them "dimmer"...
so unless,u are running "good" hid,s....u would make your lights worse !!!

james,

keep in touch with me, do i have you on MSN messenger service?

I have a guy in a city about 300 km's away from me, that I just sent my lenses to so he can make a mold out of them.

he is making up a mold in order to produce clear headlight lenses. so hopefully it goes good for him. i'll keep you updated.

I'm in the middle of putting different projectors in my car, since the cutoff line on the projectors suck, i'm putting in one with a REALLY good cutoff line, so it wont' blind other people, and will give me a better look

MOST !!!...are saying shit !!!...at last something to "brighten" our otherwise "dull" lights !!!
have had some say ???.....mmm...to much like a bmw ????
others have asked, can i do the "double" projectors in them !!!..
which can be done ...BUT !!!..u need 2 pair of lights to do it !!!!!...and 1 gets trashed !!!
BUT !!!....all have asked how much ,will u be chargeing ,for these when,u and running ????
in japan...they have gone through the roof !!!!...cost wise !!!...(supply & demand i guess?)

am learning all the time with these....what NOT !!...to do with them, and what works ???
bottom line ,i have a pair in my car...and get nothing but...."thumbs up"
from other car nuts and import owners !!!!!!...evan our local bobbies like em !!!!
have a couple of orders,in the pipe line so far....so will see what,"the customer"
thinks of them when ,done and fitted in there cars ?????????????...........cheers nick..... Very Happy

I don't know if this has been covered before but I'm pretty sure the UK (not the US) spec 147 had two part front headlights, ie the indicator was a plastic unit and the front high / low beam part was GLASS, there is usually a few set going on ebay at any one time.
Make sure you look on the UK EBAY!!
Obviously the mounting points differ somewhat, but that would be an easy as fix.

MMMMMM.....?....just to clarify (OLLIE)...for me,these are just to much work fella....
for what ??????...gain..??...
the mounting points on these, opposed to our 147 lights ARE differant..!!!...but the rear housing
on these lights are (1 peice)..easy as fix..?????....(do tell?)
also ...these lights (do not) have any parker lights in them...!!!...the indicator bulb connectors
are differant, than ours..!!!!( u have to modify 147 indicator bulbs into them..??)
they (do not) run HB3,S...to the low beam...!!!!...same high beam bulbs...but..???
they are a shit load harder to (heat and seperate them) they run 4 push in "click"
connectors behind the faces..!!!!!......ok ,i suppose,if u are not pulling them apart...!!!!
and the few sets i have seen ,just lately...the glass faces are "cracked" somewhere
in the faces...!!!!!...to buy these from a "pic" oversea,s,u would have to be asking the
question..???..... have they got any face cracks in them..???.......nick.... Nervous
