Hey guys.

I just bought a set of Veilside wheels. They are in ok condition, but need a little work. They do have ordinary gutter rash, I believe one has a very slighht buckle and the clearcoat is pealing off the centre.
I am thinking of 2 options.

I am willing to do the paint work side of things myself and then just sending the wheels off for polishing and dressing up.

The second option is to get them all done at a wheel repair place and let them do everything. There are at least 3 places I have found on the net that are fairly close to where I live.

The question is, has anyone had experience in getting their wheels repaired and how much did it cost? Is it worth me having a go, or just better to get the experts to do the lot?
I have no idea at all how much I can expect it to cost me.

Chris

i would pay some one to do it. restoring wheels not hard to do just so time consuming. Then the worry of touching a kurb after all the hard work.
You might consider powder coating as it is cheeper and more durable just make sure they dont coat them with the centers in.
sorry didnt give any prices.
i have 3 pice wheels so centers sandblasted cost $35 each.
powder coated $25 each.
getter rash removal 1 file set $80.
nice shiny finish lots of wet and dry paper $10 bench grinder with buff $250 and many many hours and sore hands.

Agreed with JDM...chris,have had a few wheels done now !!!...
rule of thumb,to redo a lip say ???which is gutter rashed/slightly bent $80 per rim !!
if u are going for a FULL..polish/recoat with clear....get the gold card out !!! Nervous ..(not cheap)
u have to luv the rims to get this done fella ???
have dicked around with a couple ,but just not worth the hassle !!!
for your $80...u get a rim back that looks "new"...........cheers nick... Smile
