Ok seeing as there are few on here that think electronic music is noise.

"Music is an artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental or vocal tones in a structured and continuous manner"

"musical instrument: any of various devices or contrivances that can be used to produce musical tones or sounds"

Am I the only person who can listen to almost anything? The only things I can't stand are new pop r'n'b mariah carey, and the worst - vanessa amorossi type sheilas, and country music with exceptions for a few like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. Other than that I like thrash metal, old funk and soul, old pop rock like the beatles and shit, old 70's rock, trance, drum n bass, dubstep, punk, even noise and ambient sometimes. I think the key lies in finding the 5% or so of each genre which actually do it really well.

If anyone's after a real challenge for their listening, check out Kesto by Pan Sonic, should be able to torrent it somewhere. 4 discs of deconstructionist noisy ambient drum-and-bass-ish something which starts out as a noisy sonic assault and degenerates unpleasantly over 4 hours (with occasional breaks of 6-7minute silence) into nothing but an hour of varying sine wave tones. There's obviously been a lot of thought and effort put into it and it's certainly not 'enjoyable' in a conventional sense, but neither was Schindler's List and it was still a critically acclaimed movie.
