Black Aristos?
In my search for a vehicle I have been in contact (or attempted to be in contact) with anyone and everyone associated with buying/importing Aristos.
I've been told by a well-established importer that a lot of black Aristos are actually resprays, because these sell quicker. He also told me many are poorly resprayed, so it's probably not too hard to tell.
So my question is, of you guys & gals out there with a black Aristo, how many are genuine factory black? You can check this from the paintcode right? What is the paintcode for factory black?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I mean, I don't mind Silver but if I could get a black car I'd be a very happy camper.
Mine has been resprayed, firstly non-factory color (emerald black) and secondly car has a tan interior, so the car must have been white to start with.
Your correct, many of the cars that get resprayed don't have a factory quality paint job, but even the the cars that haven't been resprayed many have had a panel painted here or there.
You'd be 100% right as id estimate about 75% of Aristos coming thru are definetly resprayed black that were originally black to begin with ! _________________

Mine was originally silver.....
The paintjob on it isnt the best all over anymore and you can tell it was silver underneath in places...
But its been sprayed black with a blue pearl.. kinda looks like a dark dark blue!!
Maybe something i'll get done at a later date is a fully respray again - but for the moment... not soemthing i am going to worry about! _________________
No matter what the colour of mine.. It's gonna get a midnight purple respray. But reeeeally really dark.. So more like black with a midnight purple pearl..

Mine is a 94 and is black. I noticed it had been resprayed the first time I polished it and had a good close up look. I thought it had just been black before and had been given a touch up untill I took the boot carpet off and noticed that it was actually a dark blue colour. I couldn't tell just by looking at it but when I looked at a photo that I had taken of the boot I could tell it was actually blue.
Not really sure how much value this will bring to the thread but thought I would put up my story anyway.

Oh yeah, recently confirmed. Plenty of people reckoned mine was resprayed, but I bought it believing it was genuine black. Sure enough, went out to check. 202 Paint code
That's why the paintjob is shitty i reckon - it's 13 year old paint.
All of the resprays tend to spend 5-10yrs in original colour before the respray so when they come to our shores the paint is newer and thus in much better condition. _________________
